Creating Zimbra Personas (Identities)
Using Zimbra for your business, and want to be able to send mail from a domain other than your default domain? The Personas feature lets you send from any email address, and comes with other convenient options, such as automatically organizing mail received from other email addresses into separate directories/folders, and automatically responding to those messages with the matching Persona.
Personas (also known as mail identities) let you send “from” different email addresses while remaining logged into your Zimbra mailbox. When email is forwarded to your Zimbra account from another email address or when replying to messages from the Zimbra web client, Personas modify/mask the “From:” field when composing or replying to messages, so that your recipients receive your email from your chosen Persona, instead of your default email address.
Zimbra Personas are found under Preferences > Accounts in the Zimbra web client:

To create a new Persona in your Zimbra account, click on the ‘Add Persona’ tab in the lower right of the Accounts window:

Enter a name for your new Persona:

Next choose the name you would like to appear in the ‘From:’ field on the outgoing email messages:

Enter the email address you would like outgoing email messages to appear to be coming from:

You may delete the pre-filled email address and enter any email address in this field, or use the drop-down list which contains your current mail accounts:

Next, select a Signature, if desired:

In the ‘Use this Persona’ field enter the email addresses you would like the Persona to be used for when forwarding or replying to emails. For example, if emails are sent to your Persona address (in this example, jay@xyz.com), or any other email address (orders@xyz.com), check ‘Use this Persona’ and enter the email addresses you would like to automatically use the Persona for when replying or forwarding messages sent to these email addresses:

If you want specific folders to automatically use this Persona when replying to messages contained in the folder, click on the browser icon on the right:

Select a folder from the folder list, then click ‘Ok’:

Verify your settings are correct:

When you are finished, click Save at the top of the screen:

Now, when replying to or creating new mail messages, you can choose your new Persona from the Account drop down list:

If you’ve configured the ‘Use this persona’ field to automatically reply using the Persona, it will default to using the Persona when replying to a message in the selected folder, or email address:

Creating Personas as send from identities allows you to manage many email accounts at once from your Zimbra account. Forwarding mail from other accounts, or setting up External accounts in your Zimbra account helps you manage many accounts at once, from a single account in the Zimbra web interface.
