Thursday, March 19th, 2009

ichatEver wonder if you can use your Zimbra email address to chat with others externally, outside of the built-in Instant Messaging (IM, aka “chat”) client in Zimbra webmail?  We’ll show you how using a hosted Zimbra mailbox at 01.com.

By configuring Adium (for Mac clients) and Pidgin (for Windows, Linux and other Unix operating systems), setting up your Zimbra email address for instant messaging only takes a few steps to configure and is an easy way to use your Zimbra account as a chat screenname, allowing you to keep your personal and work instant messaging accounts separate and chat with others throughout the day.

Now you can join the smug crowd that has time to backup their data regularly, or money to pay someone to do it for them, even if you don’t have the time nor the money, just by hosting your business email, shared calendars, contacts, tasks, files and notebooks in 01.com’s newly upgraded hosted Zimbra servers.

Zimbra Mobile & iPhone

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

With iPhone 2.0 software or later you may wirelessly sync Zimbra email, contacts and calendars to and from your iPhone. Also known as over-the-air (OTA) synchronization, Apple’s iPhone with Activesync support syncs your Zimbra account using a licensing option called Zimbra Mobile.

“Push” technology keeps all of your email, contacts and calendar information in sync instantly as changes occur in your Zimbra account. Incoming email is updated on the iPhone as messages arrive just as scheduling or accepting a new calendar appointment on the iPhone is reflected in the Zimbra web interface calendars. Multiple calendar support for iPhone is included, allowing you to view calendars one at a time or all at once on the iPhone.

Zimbra Free/Busy support in Apple iCal

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Syncing your Zimbra calendars in iCal using CalDAV now displays free/busy information, comparing your calendar schedule with the availability of others when scheduling appointments.

To view free/busy information, schedule an appointment on your (or another person’s) Zimbra calendar in iCal. In this appointment I am scheduling a meeting on my own Zimbra calendar to request a meeting at 11 A.M. with John, one of my coworkers.

Enter a name for the appointment, then click ‘Add Attendees’:

Next, enter the email address of the person you would like to invite to the event in the ‘Attendees’ field:
