Now undelete your Zimbra email from 48 days ago

Now you can join the smug crowd that has time to backup their data regularly, or money to pay someone to do it for them, even if you don’t have the time nor the money, just by hosting your business email, shared calendars, contacts, tasks, files and notebooks in 01.com’s newly upgraded hosted Zimbra servers.
We are extending our backup retention window by 60% in March 2009, from 30 days to 48 days, in the 01.com hosted Zimbra cloud. This means that a request through our online help desk ticketing system, titled: “restore my mailbox from 6 weeks and 1 day ago, at noon!” will result in a positive response, such as:
“Yep! [we're midwestern]
Please visit yourmailbox_recovered@yourdomain.com, use your regular password, find the attachment for which you’re looking, and send it to yourself. We’ll delete that old restored account when you’re done… voila!”
If 48 days of undelete just isn’t enough for you, permit me to introduce you to our Legal Compliance option. Dear Reader, all one of you, meet Zimbra Archiving and Discovery.
“Pleased ta meetcha... while I only store email and attachments, unlike undelete which includes your calendars, contacts, files, notebooks, tasks and more, I go even farther back in time. Since the time you start the archive, my SOX and HIPPA compliant option enables searching across mailboxes by keyword, through email and its exploded headers, and even including most popular attachments types. I store all in-bound and out-bound mail in a private archive not viewable by the users themselves, yet may be searched by the systems administrator. Thanks for letting me talk about myself, it’s my second favorite thing to do!”
You’re welcome. I think. We know some small businesses that have elected to add this feature to their sales team’s mailboxes… and for some public, governmental and other organizations, it’s just mandatory.
Note that both requesting rollbacks for mailboxes, and the new, extended retention period are provided free-of-additional-charge in the 01.com Zimbra hosting environment, for personal and business mailboxes, whether at month-to-month or annual terms. Zimbra Archiving and Discovery costs extra, and stay tuned for a soon-to-be-announced price reduction on this enterprise feature everyone can use.
The capacity to offer this extended roll-back came from recent upgrades to the 01.com infrastructure, part of material plans conceived in 2008 to improve performance, reliability and scalability in preparation for the introduction of Zimbra 6… see the Roadmap for why we’re enthused!
Besides the regular prattle about best practices with Zimbra and the tribulations of SaaS provider, more announcements of the benefits of upgrades and other navel-gazing we’ve been doing will follow from now through May, 2009.
~Thanks for reading, mom.
