Jared Howell, of Just a Byte computer services, recently welcomed us to share his emails about his experience introducing his customers to 01.com’s quick-start, hosted Zimbra services.

Share this Post[?]I am stuck dealing with awful companies everyday. 01.com is always a breath of fresh air. It is great to have a company and service that I know I can refer to anyone, and they will be pleased on both fronts.
As of April, 2009, we’re suspending the activation fees we’ve charged in the past for month-to-month Zimbra hosting.
On average, we estimate this will save new customers 18% in their first year of service. Along with our 30-day no obligation trial, we hope no activation/setup fees will encourage those considering our services and not yet ready to commit to a prepaid annual term which already has no setup fee.

Kevin begins by introducing Zimbra desktop beta 3, the off-line addition to the on-line Zimbra groupware suite, and also usable with Yahoo! Mail, and generally as an IMAP client, available for free download from http://www.zimbra.com/desktop , with mac, windows and linux versions. We expect Zimbra desktop to be in general release in Q4, 2008.
Kevin emphasizes that Zimbra desktop is open source, and that Zimbra/Yahoo!’s strategy is to support every client, so nobody is left out and there’s no platform left behind.

I’ve tried several hosted Exchange services and have had an awful time with setup, performance, and reliability. Hosted Zimbra with 01.com has been a completely different experience. Setup and migration from Exchange were fast and easy. Zimbra and 01 provide excellent documentation, and 01′s customer service responds quickly. Zimbra is working great on both PC and iPhone, and performance is excellent. I’m impressed!
