Zimbra vs. Google Apps… and MobileMe: public review

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Falling in love all over again, is the title of Andrew Robulack’s blog entry about his experience coming back to Zimbra hosted with 01.com.

Andrew had journeyed to Google Apps, and now writes, “I’ve turfed the free Google Apps in favour of Zimbra. The IMAP implementation is way better and the overall level of integration between the various services (contacts, calendar, email, and documents) is vastly superior. Well worth the $4-odd per month per account.”

As an iPhone user, what kept him from MobileMe?  “I find that [Zimbra is] everything I’d hoped for in Apple’s MobileMe service, and so much more.”

Zimbra Hosting: public review

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Brad writes:

One of the best U.S. hosting companies for Zimbra may be 01.com, out of Chicago… Besides the speed, I like the prices at 01.com. Less than $5/user/month covers small business Zimbra hosting.”

“Zimbra plays well with OS X”

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

After moving from Exchange hosting to Zimbra with 01.com, Mark writes:

“The nice thing about Zimbra for us Mac users is that it plays well with Mac OS X. Mail is handled with straight IMAP, not some proprietary Microsoft moon-man protocol. Calendars are accessible via CalDAV, which means integrating with Leopard’s iCal is a snap. For the late adopter(s) still on Tiger, there’s an iSync connector which will handle calendars, as well as contacts (the contact sync also works on Leopard.) Those of us still using Outlook have a pretty good Zimbra sync plugin available that makes it work more or less like Exchange did. There are mobile apps for Blackberry, Windows, Palm and Symbian phones, and an iPhone-friendly web view (I won’t be surprised if an iPhone native app arrives later this year.

01.com Zimbra Hosting Review

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

“I wanted to take a second to drop a quick line. So far, I’ve been really impressed with my experience with 01. The knowledgebase is large and honestly helpful. A couple of times, I’ve called for phone support and on each occasion the hold time was reasonable and when the support person answered, they spoke English as a first language, generally knew what they were doing, and honestly wanted to help. Finally, my experience with Arthur [a systems engineer] was really outstanding. He was very helpful and did what he said he would do.
