01.com review by Zimbra hosting reseller

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Jared Howell, of Just a Byte computer services, recently welcomed us to share his emails about his experience introducing his customers to 01.com’s quick-start, hosted Zimbra services. signup

Here’s what he wrote:

I am stuck dealing with awful companies everyday. 01.com is always a breath of fresh air. It is great to have a company and service that I know I can refer to anyone, and they will be pleased on both fronts.

Zimbra Co-Founder responds to MSFT proposal

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

I am writing to communicate and discuss the unsolicited proposal that Y! got from MSFT. This is a proposal that our board is considering and this may or may not be completed. This is a very early unsolicited preliminary proposal and even if the board did decide to go in that direction there is a long road ahead.

At Zimbra, nothing has changed. We will remain utterly and thoroughly committed to making our customers successful. We will continue to innovate at a great pace. We will continue to disrupt the market with products that are years ahead of our competition. We will continue to embrace open standards. That’s our DNA. And we remain committed to doing that.

Microsoft offer to buy Yahoo! – positive news for Zimbra

Zimbra, the company that makes the eponymous open source collaboration suite that competes directly with Microsoft Exchange, was acquired in September by Yahoo!. Now Microsoft has made an offer to buy Yahoo!. What does this mean for Zimbra?

First reactions: the chances of Zimbra remaining a part of Yahoo! as it’s purchased by Microsoft are minimal. What the offer does do is:

1. It proves that Yahoo! is undervalued
2. It generates interest from other prospective competitors in Yahoo!
3. It creates opportunities for Zimbra to be spun-off/bought/sold prior to such a purchase given the interests of the prospective new company are not aligned
